May 31 2009

I have been caught up doing alterations on clothing for people, so have not done any art. I didn't really have anything interesting to write about either, hence, no posts.

I have just visited Rowena at warriorgirl.blogspot.com. She has suggested doing a painting a day for 100 days. I think this is a great idea and am going to commit to doing this beginning tomorrow, June 1st. Last year I committed to making a purse/book a day for a year and did so for six months then got bored with it. I intended switching to something else but didn't find anything that I was inspired to do everyday. Rowena's idea will work for me, I think. I need practice painting and I need to loosen up and be less perfectionistic, so whether I do an art journal painting, a small canvas painting or a mixed media, whatever, it will be something I can do in an hour or two. I am lucking enough to be retired and have lots of time on my hands so that is not an issue. Motivation and inspiration are the issues and I think this challenge will work for me.

  1. I'm jealous that you'll have time to do this - but really, I could make time, if I chose to. I look forward to seeing pics of anything you feel like sharing once you get in the swing of doing paintings each day!

  2. Hi Leone
I got inspiredby Rowena as well! I'm hoping to have an hour a day at least to create. I'm looking forward to seeing what we all create.
    Take care.

  3. I will definitely share what I feel is worth sharing, Mary Ellen. Retirement is a strange situation sometimes, the endless free hours are great but when there is no purpose, it's difficult to motivate oneself. I noticed your name at Rowena's blog,Bev and also look forward to seeing what we create, should be fun.

  4. Hi Leone,

Your purses are just gorgeous and you're skillful at your craft work! Fantastic!

Although time is an issue for me (part-time work, 4 days a week), motivation and inspiration remain the essentails to tackle. You're not alone.

Looking forward to more of your lovely work!

I look forward to seeing what you get up to in the next 100 days.....and I'm with Hybrid J, for me, motivation and inspiration is a stumbling block, regardless of whether the time is there!!

  6. Great book purses, what a great idea?
I love the idea of creating something every day for a while, I think it will give one momentum. I was also thinking of a similar idea, but am afraid to commit in case I can't follow through with it! All the best with your 100 days painting :)
